note : Arnoux non rispetta le indicazioni del box e non rallenta per favorire la vittoria di Prost, dopo la gara Alain Prost dichiara: “l’anno prossimo o lui o io…”. Baldi e Mass entrano in collisione e si sfiora la tragedia, dopo questa gara il pilota tedesco, in questo momento l’unico del suo Paese, con Von Trips, a vantare una vittoria in F1 si ritira definitivamente, probabilmente anche a causa del suo coinvolgimento nell’episodio che costò la vita a Villeneuve in Belgio.
