note :al 23 giro la De Tomaso di Courage esce di pista e si avventa sul terrapieno prendendo immediatamente fuoco , da 260 kmh a 0, un’urto insopportabile per l’organismo umano, il promettente pilota inglese muore. Debutto di Clay Regazzoni con la seconda Ferrari, il ticinese chiuderà il mondiale al terzo posto con 33 punti, pur avendo disputato solo 8 gare su 13. Servoz-Gavin si ritira dalle corse, al suo posto Francois Cevert. Alla Mclaren arriva Dan Gurney per qualche GP. prima vittoria oer la Lotus 72 , un modello che sarà in pista per diversi anni ancora.
